Heart of a Volunteer

“The heart of a volunteer is never measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others.” - DeAnn Hollis

My son, Eli, was diagnosed at age 3.5 with Hypothalamic Hamartoma.  While trying to navigate all that goes with HH I was incredibly touched by all the support from family, friends, and even strangers. Through Hope For HH, I was able to make important decisions for Eli by learning from others' experiences. It made me realize how important community is and I want to be able to offer support to others who may be struggling with their own HH journey.  We are so fortunate that Eli is now med and seizure free after a 3 year struggle!

Our small family, my husband Jeff, Eli, and I live in Baltimore.  We enjoy hiking, camping, travelling, and tennis. We organize our local scouting chapter of Navigators USA. I also run a family hiking and adventures group. Through Johns Hopkins Hospital, I volunteer to help other families that are implementing the ketogenic diet for epilepsy. During the week, I really enjoy my work as a mental health therapist at Baltimore City Community College.
