Endocrine System

A complex network of glands and organs. It uses hormones to control and coordinate your body’s metabolism, energy level, reproduction, growth and development, and response to injury, stress, and mood.

Endocrinologist

A physician who specializes in the system of organs that secrete and respond to hormones. An endocrinologist may be consulted if one or more of the endocrine organs, such as the pituitary gland which is located in the brain, becomes affected.

Epilepsy

A disorder characterized by transient but recurrent disturbances of brain function that may or may not be associated with impairment or loss of consciousness and abnormal movements or behavior.

Executive Function

A set of mental skills that include working memory, flexible thinking, and self-control. We use these skills every day to learn, work, and manage daily life. Trouble with executive function can make it hard to focus, follow directions, and handle emotions.
