My name is Cindy Rubash and I am a volunteer with Hope for HH. I was asked to explain why I have chosen to be a volunteer (besides the fact that I am retired and have way too much time on my hands). Well, I have a grandson with HH.
Our family has a history of seizures, 3 of my 4 children had seizures as children. My identical twin sons were hospitalized several times when the seizures would not stop. While they are all seizure free now (have been since early childhood), no one was ever able to discover why they had the seizures in the first place.
When Colby had his first seizure, we thought it was they same pattern, until he was diagnosed with HH. I know how hard it was to cope for the 3 or 4 years when my children had issues, I can only imagine how difficult it is when there is no end in sight.
So, that is why I volunteer. I am a retired engineer – we are problem solvers – this is a problem I can not solve myself, but by volunteering maybe I can help someone else find a solution.
