All of our speakers are confirmed for the 2017 DC Family Forum. We heard YOUR feedback and recruited speakers on the topics YOU most wanted to learn about including executive function, rages, behavior, endocrine, memory, CBD etc.

The forum begins Saturday, Dec. 2 with a dinner and social gathering. Catch up with old HH friends or folks perhaps you only know on Facebook and meet new families to make lasting personal connections with families who just “get it.”
On Sunday, Dec. 3 we will come back together from 8:30 until 4 PM for up-to-date information from thought leaders inside and outside of HH. Dr. Jack Kerrigan will kick the meeting off with an overview of “What’s New in HH Treatment and Research.” This discussion will share new insights about laser treatment and clinical trials for focused ultrasound. It will also outline research being underwritten by Hope for HH made possible by your generous support and donations.
Following authors and international experts, Dr. Madison Berl will discuss cognition and memory. Dr. Berl is a neuropsychologist whose research includes working memory in pediatric epilepsy and executive function across pediatric psychiatric disorders. She is prepped to discuss how these issues uniquely challenge HH patients. Following Dr. Jay Salpekar will discuss HH & Psychiatric Co-Morbidities and Behavior. Dr. Salpekar is the Director of Neuropsychiatry in Epilepsy Program at the esteemed Kennedy Krieger Institute. He is poised to address the behavioral complications associated with HH.
After lunch and more time to socialize, we have brought in 4 specialists to lead roundtables to explore topics unique to HH. All participants will be able to choose 2 topics and engage in small groups with our discussion leaders:
- Transitions led by Sandra Cushner-Weinstein
- Endocrine Issues led by Dr. Oliver Oatman
- Family Dynamics led Carrin Brandt
- Alternative Therapies (Diet & CBD) led by Dr. Amy Kao
Hope for HH will have an RN and volunteer supervised babysitting/care for HH children and adults with fun engaging activities in a safe environment. Siblings are welcome as well.
