Pallister-Hall Syndrome

A disorder that affects the development of many parts of the body. Most people with this condition have extra fingers and/or toes (polydactyly), and the skin between some fingers or toes may be fused (cutaneous syndactyly). An abnormal growth in the brain called a hypothalamic hamartoma is characteristic of this disorder.

Panhypopituitarism

A condition of inadequate or absent production of the anterior pituitary hormones. It is frequently the result of other problems that affect the pituitary gland and either reduce or destroy its function or interfere with hypothalamic secretion of the varying pituitary-releasing hormones.

Parahypothalamic (pendunculated)

A hypothalamic lesion with a narrower base attached to the floor of the hypothalamus and appears not to arise within the hypothalamus.  These lesions seem more likely to be associated with precocious puberty.

Phonology

The study of speech sounds (phonemes) and how they are used.

Pituitary gland

A small gland, attached to the base of the brain and controlled by the hypothalamus, that functions in the endocrine system. The pituitary gland secretes many hormones: some control the actions of other glands, whereas others influence growth, metabolism, and reproduction.

Podiatrist

A doctor who specialized in disorders of the foot, ankle, and related structures of the leg.

Polydipsia

The feeling of extreme thirstiness often associated with urinary conditions which result in excessive urination such as diabetes insipidious.

Polyuria

A condition that causes you to urinate an excessive amount of urine.  Often associated with diabetes insipidous.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

A mental health condition that’s triggered by a terrifying event — either experiencing it or witnessing it. Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts about the event.
