Slowing

A term used to describe a group of brain waves on the EEG that have a lower frequency than expected for the subject’s age and level of alertness and the area of the brain recorded. Slow waves can result from drowsiness or sleep, drugs, or brain injuries and occur during or after seizures.

Social worker

A professional typically assigned by the hospital and/or clinic to help assess and assist with both patient and caregiver needs, from navigating insurance to obtaining services.

Spell

A period, bout, or episode of illness or indisposition; refers to seizures or other disorders that produce brief episodes of behavioral change.
