The Heart of a Volunteer
“The heart of a volunteer is never measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others.” – DeAnn Hollis
My son, Jack, was diagnosed at 15 months after a year of misdiagnosis. He underwent laser ablation surgery just before his second birthday at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, AZ. I graduated from Colgate University with a BA in Classics and Women’s Studies and earned a Master’s degree in education from NYU. I’ve taught elementary school in Brooklyn and Queens, and now I am a stay-at-home-parent and full-time advocate for Jack. By volunteering, I hope to help HH families, new and “old,” make the best, informed decisions for their families by providing the latest information on treatment options, current research, and support in the HH and epilepsy communities.
We are so happy to have Lauren join our team. Lauren will be helping us with Content Development for our News, Research and Resources programs.
