School has started and summer is over. The leaves will start changing colors and the end of the year will be here before we know it. For us here at Hope for HH, it is time to start focusing on the final details of this year’s Family Forum in Washington DC on December 2-3. If you are considering attending the Family Forum, now is definitely the time to sign up!
This year’s event is designed to give families a chance to hear updates from the professionals in HH, ask questions in a roundtable format, and also learn from and bond with other families with HH. I have been lucky enough to speak to many families with children with HH and have learned the most valuable resource is not always the HH specialist, but the family that has been through the same rough waters and has tips on how to weather that storm.
This year’s Family Forum is being held at the Washington DC Convention Center Embassy Suites Hotel, 900 10th St NW, Washington, DC 20001. We have reserved a block of rooms, held at a greatly reduced price, to make the weekend as convenient and affordable as possible. But we will not be able to hold them beyond Oct. 31. Saturday night we will be hosting a dinner/reception at the hotel to give individuals and families a chance to meet and get to know each other. Sunday, we will provide beverages and light snacks throughout the day and lunch mid-day. Childcare will be provided by volunteers and a nurse (for those who may need basic epilepsy support).
For those attending we’ve put together a Hope For HH Washington, D.C Information packet, containing local travel information. Click her to view.
For individuals and families that may not otherwise be able to afford to attend the Family Forum, we are offering a limited number of scholarships. Please click here to learn more about the scholarships.
We are excited to be able to host a family event on the East Coast this year! We hope everyone will take advantage of this important event for a better understanding of this often confusing and frustrating condition – as well as meet others and lessen the feelings of isolation that can also hamper the journey.
